Tyler Futrell, born 1983 in northern California, has since lived in many states and countries. His music has been reflectively diverse, however usually concerned in some way with tradition and its decay or changed use.

Tyler's music have been performed throughout Europe and the USA, in situations from festival concert halls to public squares, black boxes to baroque theaters in palaces. He has worked with the 4 Elements ensemble, Boston Student Symphony Orchestra, Dinosaur Annex, Esbjerg Ensemble, Goffriller Quartet, Ziapolski Quartet, Simon Carrington, Jesper Nordin, Masashi Hirada, Johánn Lindall, CIE Pseudonymo, among many others. He has also been featured in
La République and The Boston Globe, is a recipient of Boston’s Toru Takemitsu Award.

Tyler studied primarily with Lee Hyla at the New England Conservatory of Music, and with Bent Sørensen and Hans Abrahamson at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. He has also attended the Aspen School, San Francisco Conservatory,
Ecoles d’art Américaines du Fontainebleau, and Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, as well as working residencies at o espaço do tempo, La Comédi de Reims, and Teaterhögskolan i Malmö.
